    In the spotlights

Anthurium nursery Evanty is no stranger to FloraPodium. Jaap Evers regularly visits to chat about the trade and to show us the latest Evanty varieties, which we happily share on our social media channels. A few months ago Evanty entered into a collaboration with Greencre8, a company specialized in developing and applying added value to flowers and plants. Jaap spoke enthusiastically about this collaboration and in particular about the combination with the anthurium Lovely line, which is very suitable for creating this added value.

    Rich family history

Evanty, like many nurseries, has a rich family history. Jaap's grandfather married a farmer's daughter, which earned him a few hectares of land. All kinds of vegetables were grown there. Jaap's uncles and father continued this cultivation. The first greenhouses were built in the 1930s and after the war they sold home to home. Even then, service was of paramount importance. The vegetables that were not grown by themselves were bought on the market, so that a complete range could still be offered at the door.

As a child Jaap and his cousin Jacob had their own greenhouse. When the work at the nursery was done, they could pioneer together with different crops. Jaap and Jacob have really grown and tested just about everything, but they found that their heart was more in flower cultivation. In the 1980s they continued the nursery with anthuriums and lilies. Cousins Jacob and Piet still grow lilies today under the names Double Check Lily and nursery Bredefleur. Jaap has put his grower's passion into his beloved anthuriums. Together with his son Marco, he runs the company and they specialize in customization, both for the retail and the exclusive market.

    Lovely's

The Lovely’s are small anthuriums that are very suitable for using in bouquets. Evanty grows this lovely flower in many different colors. Evanty employs several florists who use the Lovely's to make bouquets and design different concepts. For several months now, Evanty has been working with Greencre8, who have given their Lovely's a true fairytale look! In this way Evanty not only sells cut Anthuriums and bouquets, but they can offer a complete range and deliver tailor-made solutions for every customer, especially now that a partnership with Anthogether has also been entered into on 1 September.

    Greencre8

We spoke with Richard Grootscholten from Greencre8. He spoke enthusiastically about the important collaboration with the growers. The goal of Greencre8 is to open a new market for growers, in addition to their own range, so that they have something special to offer. The grower has the knowledge, an eye for the right season and knows what may or may not work. Greencre8 is looking for something unique for each grower and assits the grower in the field of marketing, after which the grower is again responsible for the sale of the product.

    Make-Upz®

Make-Upz® is a brand name for plants and flowers, which are decorated in a unique way. Natural materials are used as much as possible, which are not harmful to plants and flowers. In addition, it is important that the quality and vase life of the flowers and plants remain the same. It is therefore extensively tested at official inspection facilities for transport, shop floor and consumer vase life. For each flower or plant, we look at what is needed and which treatment is suitable to give the right magical effect. This is what makes the concept so special.

The name Make-Upz® makes the product accessible. It gives the product a lovely touch starting with the name. Jaap and Marco are happy with this Greencre8 concept. The anthurium is very suitable for this in their eyes. She already has some shine in the leaves and the veins come out even better after a Make-Upz® treatment.

Richard tells us that flowers and plants are increasingly seen as decoration. People like to give something special as a gift, something unique. At parties and events there is a lot of decoration most of which is only for one day, and flowers and plants have become part of this. Flowers and plants are viewed very differently and can also look a bit different.

    Message Printz®

"Say it with flowers!" But how nice is it when this message is printed on the flower instead of on a separate card. Message Printz® is the ideal way to send a personal message on a flower. Think of a give-away for the wedding guests, or a nice slogan to give with a company gift or a cheerful gift for exam candidates. You can order the flowers in a tube with a suction cup attached. Ideal for a hotel to, for example, hang a personal welcome on the mirror in hotel rooms.

Jaap laughs and says that he recently received an assignment from Abu Dhabi. Ramadan was over and he was ordered to have 400 anthuriums printed with a sheep. The possibilities are endless!

"Of course you pay a little more for this," Jaap explains. "But an Anthurium is very strong! Most flowers last for a week, the anthurium keeps for five to six weeks. If you still want added value, it is better to do it with a strong flower". Jaap thinks the additional cost of both concepts is well worth the amount.

Even though they have only been working together for a few months, Jaap is very positive about Greencre8. Now the sale of the Make-Upz® line is still a lot of extra work for Evanty and deliveries can only be made if ordered via the Anthogether webshop. The goal is to have more supply in the short term. "There is certainly demand for this in the current trend, we have to respond to this. We want to offer it in the webshop as soon as possible, so that customers can book it and have it delivered the same day."
