    Bouvardia 'Royal Roza'

    Image

    Origin

The Bouvardia originates in sub-tropical zones of North and Central America, with most cultivars being found in Mexico. The Bouvardia is a 'short day' plant. This means that the flowers develop when there is less than 12 hours' light. By artificially altering the length of the day by either making conditions darker or lighter it is possible to obtain regular production throughout the year.

The Bouvardia has a rich history. Its name can be traced back to Charles Bouvard, physician to Louis XIII and head of the Jardin du Roi in Paris. The special flower has a chic appearance that drew attention in the royal court as early as the 17th century.

Selective propagation and new varieties have seen the Bouvardia grow into a beautiful flower that keeps well. Bouvardia has a vase life of 14 days.

Nowadays the Bouvardia is a welcome addition to any bouquet arrangement.

Of course, the Bouvardia is also wonderful to use in beautiful Valentine arrangements.

Take a look at this tender and charming flower from a different point of view.

These unique delicate flowers open one by one in the vase. Like a young love, which develops to passionate love!

    Care

Cut the stem diagonally with a clean, sharp knife.

Remove the lower leaves of the stem and make sure remaining leaves do not touch the water.

Use a clean vase with cold water and the right concentration of flower food. Mix the food thoroughly with the water before putting the stems in.

Avoid direct sunlight and draughts. Avoid mixing Bouvardia with flowers such as Hyacinth, Viburnum and other flowers that might pollute the vase water.

Keep an eye on the water level. Bouvardia is a very thirsty flower.

    The grower and his product

The Family business, Vreeken Bouvardia, are a genuine Bouvardia family. Jaap, the 4th generation and his father Krijn have grown this surprising and versatile flower for more than 30 years.

Passion, craftsmanship and service is their driving force.

The Bouvardias from Vreeken are grown as a shrub. In this way, the plants grow in a natural way and can use all their energy to create a heavy stem and beautiful, large umbels.

Vreeken Bouvardias stand out from the rest with top-quality and excellent vase life.

Vreeken Bouvardia is a member of Milieu Project Sierteelt [Sustainability for the Ornamental Flower Chain] and is MPA-A certified. They use organic plant protection wherever possible and recycle the water used for irrigation. Environmental responsibility is very important to Vreeken. They are always looking for new, sustainable developments that can be used in their nursery.

Royal Roza is the Queen of the Bouvardia and is a single flowered Bouvardia with a unique cerise pink colour with a dark heart and a heavy stem.

Royal Roza has a very large umbel. The Royal Roza is rightly called the Queen of the Bouvardia varieties as when in full bloom they can reach 16 centimetres in diameter.
