A family-run UK business and a global brand with international following. Established in the 1950’s by David Austin who had one simple goal in mind, to create the perfect rose both as a garden plant and also as a cut rose variety.
Today, the business is divided into two breeding programmes David Austin Roses which specialises in the rose plants for the garden and David Austin Wedding Roses creating a luxury portfolio of cut roses for the floristry industry.
Breeding Roses, The Process
Breeding roses is an incredibly difficult process and can take the expert team at David Austin Wedding Roses over ten years before they will even consider introducing a new variety. Painstaking years of development and trialling are spent at the UK nursery as well as by their carefully selected handful of rose growers located around the world. Soil, climate and atmosphere all play a huge part in how the rose will perform.
The first cut garden rose David Austin introduced to the market was Juliet (Ausjameson) in 2004, which took over fifteen years to perfect and to date is still one of the most popular wedding roses in the world.
Juliet has been joined by 15 other varieties, including a recent introduction Leonora (Auswagsy), the epitome of elegance and timeless style, making her a perfect wedding rose.
The Full Collection, Sixteen stunning varieties
Currently, the David Austin Wedding Rose collection is made up of sixteen delightfully different and unique varieties, ranging from pastels to bold magenta.
